Tapioca Slime Mold, Brefeldia maxima, Stemonitidae, Stemonitida, Myxogastria, Mycetozoa, Amoebozoa. Brefeldia maxima is one of the largest of the slime molds and its distinctive feature is the presence of multicellular vesicles within the capillitium. Essentially the white plasmodial phase is a single cell, therefore technically amongst the largest cells known. A common species with a worldwide distribution, and found throughout the UK.
