De bladen hebben vertakte ranken en getande, soms gevlekte steunbladen. De bloemen zijn vrij klein (kleiner dan 2 cM), purperkleurig, zij staan alleen of 2 bijeen en zijn bijna zittend. De kelk heeft gelijke, iancet- priemvormige tanden, die even lang als de buis
