Fruiting bodies of a plasmodial slime mold, Arcyria cinerea. This species has been studied as a source of indolocarbazoles (Arcyriacyanin A and lycogallic acid dimethyl ester A) that show some promise in cancer treatment and antiviral activity. Image is digitally altered to move the two fruiting bodies closer together and to increase depth of field.
