Description

Stems erect, smooth and unbranched. The name comes from the Latin ‘vincere’ meaning to conquer and ‘toxicum’ meaning poison.

Flowers

The greenish-yellow or white flower, borne in a stalked cluster (6-8) has 5 petals, fused at the base.

Leaves

Cordate heart-shaped, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Heart-shaped to long, wider in the middle, pointed, smooth.

Fruits Seeds

Pod: two together, containing numerous seeds, each with tufted, white hairs.

Medical

Rootstock: was used as an antidote to snake bites. Juice used to treat boils and pimples.
