Description

A large, hairless, deciduous shrub, often cultivated in parks and gardens. The leaves colour reddish-orange in autumn.

Open woodland, thickets, scrub and dry rocky slopes.

Flowers

Numerous tiny flowers, in lax panicles of 15-30 cm long, resembling a large pink feathery plume. Each flower has 5 yellow petals turning pinkish-red on maturing.

Elliptic oval leaf. Oval, undulated, on long stalks, bright green.

Fruits Seeds

Drupe: kidney-shaped, 3-4 mm with an outer fleshy part surrounding a pit with a seed inside.
