Description

The stem is branched, slightly hairy.

Grows on banks, hedgerows, walls, usually on waste land near human habitation.

Flowers

Flowers yellow with 4 petals.

Leaves

Pinnate row of leaflets on either side of the stem. 5-7 pairs of leaflets on either side of the stem, oval-oblong in shape, scalloped or serrated margins, blue-green underneath.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: cylindrical, 3-5 cm long, black seeds.

Medical

Stalks: exude a yellow-orange liquid that was used to burn off warts.
