Description:
1. Branchlet with terminal vegetative winterbud (k) and clusters of sessile flowers (a - g). Flowers appear before leaves on winter-branchlets. - 2. Branchlet and developed leafy shoot with ripe fruits (a, b). Fruits ripen early in spring. Leaves are obliquely ovate to obovate, acuminate at apex, occasionally three-lobed in the upper part. Seeds are in the middle of the nut-like winged fruit (samara), slightly notched and downy at the apex. - 3. Seedling with cotyledons (c) and first ordinary leaves, opposite in position, alternating later. - 4. Winter-branchlet with mature vegetative (k) and fertile (flower) buds (b).
