The high growing L.vulgaris is one of the most common wild flowers in my garden. It behaves nearly like a weed, but I let it grow in most places due to its colorful and beautiful inflorescence. It functions also as food plant for the night moth Anticollix sparsata, which likes especially its flowers. This plant is most often seen near rivers and lakes but in my garden they grow on quite dry places.
