Lovage is a relatively unknown vegetable in this part of the world. It’s a member of the Apiaceae family, and originates from Europe. It lives as a perennial, and once established, Lovage can be harvested at any time of the year; this being said, it truly shines in the early spring when there isn't very much available in the garden. Its flavour is unique, but can be compared to celery; it's crisp and refreshing.

The leaves and stalks that are the parts used for food, but the roots have medicinal value too. The stalks and leaves are used in the same way that celery is used; broths and soup, salads, roasted dishes, salt infusions, and more. Much like parsley and cilantro, the leaves make an excellent breath freshener too. The roots are used to treat inflammation of the urinary tract, flatulence, fevers, and to prevent the development of kidney stones.

All seeds are organic and open pollinated.

It thrives best in full sun, but will also produce decently when grown in partial shade. It likes loamy or sandy soils, and doesn’t seem to be too particular to PH. lovage does like the soil to be free draining, but at the same time thrives on a regular and consistent water supply.
