COMMON SNOWBERRY (Symphoricarpos albus)

Common snowberry is a deciduous shrub that grows 2-6 feet tall and spreads by rhizomes. It prefers sun but will grow in shade and will grow in wet to dry soils.

The flowers are small pink urns that produce white berries that will stay on the plant all winter. Snowberry will form thickets and is suitable for erosion control or as part of a hedgerow.

It is an excellent habitat plant. Pollinators, especially bumblebees, visit the flowers, birds utilize the berries as a late-winter food source and the thickets provide refuge and nesting areas for birds and small mammals.
