blue-green algae. So called because the
type was first discovered in blue-green.
Cyanophyta also known as
cyanobacteria, myxophyta, and blue
green algae (BGA). Cyanophyta
incorporated into the kingdom Monera
with bacteria as prokaryotic cells.
CHARACTERISTICS
 Unicellular organisms
Ex : (chroocococcus, Anacystis)
 Colony

Ex : (Merismopedia, Nostoc, Microcystis)

 Filament

Ex : (Oscillatoria, Microcoleus, Abaena)

 Cell wall containing peptides, hemicellulose
and cellulose, sometimes slimy
 The core cell has no membrane (prokaryotes).

REPRODUCTIONS

Cell Division

Fragmentation

Akinet Making
• Blue green algae form filament
• Ex : Oscillatoria, Nostoc comune, Anabaena and
3
Rivularia.
• Blue green algae colonize 2
• Ex : Polycitis,Spirullina
• Single-celled blue green algae 1
• Ex : Chroococcus, Gloeocapsa

PROFIT AND LOSS
CHARACTERISTICS………..
 PROFIT :
 As pioneer vegetation
 As food resource for human and fish
 As provider of nitrogen that used for rice growth
 LOSS :
 If blooming can produce toxin that poisonous for
animal and human who drink the water
contaminated by alga
 Lyngbia majuscula, Schizothrix calciola, dan
Oscillatoria nigroviridis can make iritation skin
famous as swimmer’s itch
