General: Erect slender annual. Foliage tomentose, grey-green to grey in colour.
Flowers: Flower heads small, yellow with a woolly calyx and involucre, flower heads found in leafy-bracted clusters. We measured the calyx at 3 mm long.
Leaves: Leaves are linear-lanceolate, alternate, sessile, appressed along the stem. We measured a leaf at 12 mm long by 4 mm wide.
Height: Height not listed in Budd's Flora, nor in Flora of Alberta, we measured plants to 19 cm tall.
Habitat: Prairie in southwest Saskatchewan.
Abundance: Listed as fairly common in Checklist of the Vascular Plants of Saskatchewan.
Origin: Introduced.
When and where photographed: Photos taken June 7th, grassy stream south of Cypress Hills, about 400 km southwest of Regina, SK, and June 21st dry grassland on shore of alkaline lake, about 425 km southwest of our home in Regina, SK.
