Description

A close relative of a perhaps more famous Juno species – I. nicolai, but this one is instantly recognisable as it has white anthers.

Ours have large white flowers, with a suffusion of blue-violet and large flowers. The falls have a large, imperial purple to dark purplish-violet blade with an orange crest. Both this and nicolai vary in colour and may overlap botanically, although they are very different and distinct horticulturally.

It will grow outside, if well-drained and it then flowers with the earliest spring Crocus. One of the most attractive of the early Junos.
