Description:

Members of this family typically have dark coloured spore mass. The typical type of fruiting body produced is a stalked sporangium. A capillitium is always present and many species have a prominent columella. sporangia: In groups, 3-6(-8) mm total height, ovoid or short cylindrical, rarely almost spherical, rounded at the apex and base, dark brown.

Habitat:

found in decaying wood and bark.
