Fraxinus pennsylvanica (Green Ash)
This specimen of green ash shows an opposite pinnately compound leaflet and clusters of light green winged fruits.
Green ash range extends from east of the Rocky Mountains to the east coast, from New England to northern Florida and the Gulf. It grows in soils along streams and in floodplains.
Bark is gray and corky. Clusters of 1/8" long purple flowers appear in early spring (male and female flowers on separate trees).
