Agrypnus murinus

"Agrypnus murinus" is a species of click beetle belonging to the family Elateridae subfamily Agrypninae. This beetle is present in most of Europe, the eastern Palearctic realm, the Near East and the Nearctic realm. The dark-brown larvae of this beetle develop in the soil, eating roots, worms and larvae of other insects.
Click Beetle - Agrypnus murinus Click beetles (sometimes called Skipjacks or Snapping Beetles) are so-called due to their habit, when threatened, attacked or overturned, of flicking themselves into the air & emitting an audible click.

I found this one in a field of Oxeye Daisies gorging on nectar, which made a great backdrop for some photos and this little video which carries further information on this particular member of the family : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MceBg5Qdz9M Agrypnus murinus,Geotagged,Spring,United Kingdom
