  1. Amazing how you captured the burst, it's like an inception of layers of wind. Posted 5 years ago
    1. Thanks Ferdy! They were perfect and so ready to burst! I would have liked to get more/better shots, but I had a creeper following me and wanted to move on asap. Situations like that make me wish that I lived in a more remote place where I would have to worry more about wild animals than wild men. Posted 5 years ago
      1. T_T Scaryyyy! Posted 5 years ago
        1. Yep. And, incredibly annoying. I wasn't finished with my hike and didn't want to have to leave! Posted 5 years ago
      2. That sounds awful, good thinking to move on. Perhaps none of my business, but do you carry something to protect yourself, other than a pocket knife? Posted 5 years ago
        1. I do - I carry pepper spray. I've only had to use it once, but it definitely accomplished its purpose! Posted 5 years ago
          1. Sad that you had to use it, but good that you have it! Posted 5 years ago
            1. True! You hope you'll never need to use it, but are so glad to have it when you do need it. Posted 5 years ago

Lycogala epidendrum is a cosmopolitan species of plasmodial slime mould which is often mistaken for a fungus. The aethalia, or fruiting bodies, occur either scattered or in groups on damp rotten wood, especially on large logs, from June to November.
