  1. The brown bruising and general "feel" here makes me think this may be Phaeolus schweinitzii. What do you think?

    Maybe I'm just getting confused with IDs lol :D Ignore this.

    1. This is why I got confused. I think in the US, we have Onnia subtriquetra (not O. tomentosa)?

      1. I have absolutely no idea. The ID was suggested a few years ago by Igor Safonov on MO. Maybe taxonomy has changed since then? Posted 2 years ago

''Onnia tomentosa'' is a species of fungus in the family Hymenochaetaceae commonly known as the woolly velvet polypore. It is frequently found in coniferous forests at higher altitudes, often growing in large groups, rather rare at lower altitudes. It is a plant pathogen, and causes tomentosus root rot, primarily in spruce.
