Net-marked parmelia - Parmelia sulcata That's why I do not delete my old photos. This is one of my first photos - April 2015. Now, browsing my archives, I came across it. 1. You raise a point I can't spread enough: photos sitting on hard disk can have a lot of value. They can be species intros, simply a joy to watch for others, and they can even be rare observations. Thank you for unlocking that value! Posted 6 years ago
    1. In fact this photo is a cropped detail of a bigger image with main subject Nuthach - Sitta europaea. I guess checking the old photos some more new species could pop up.
Moreover - with the passing of years, one is changing his mind as far as the creative side of photography is concerned - I hope in a positive direction. Another view of composition, contrast, color temperature, and so on. Now I look at my old photos with another eye and appreciate them differently. It's always worth taking time and reviewing the archives.

      1. Well said. Some members, including yourself, I've seen grow and improve over the years. It's a very visible thing. You've developed your own signature. I can see from a thumbnail when it's you.

The other trend I find even more fascinating is people transforming into becoming species-aware in the field. Actively identifying and going on trips to find new species.

        Pokemon for nature ;)

Net-marked parmelia is a foliose lichen in the family Parmeliaceae. It is very tolerant of pollution and has a cosmopolitan distribution, making it one of the most common lichens. It harbours a unicellular "Trebouxia" green algal symbiont.
