We came across this rather startling blue/purple fungal cushion approximately 3cm diameter. I found something very similar a few years ago but never managed to identify it. (My observation is on iSpot somewhere.) Anyway a member of the fungal group immediately recognised it as Nectriopsis violacea - a fungus that grows on the slime mould Fuligo septica. Has anyone else come across this? Comments welcome.
