This stalked polypore has a root and should be dug up for
collection. Pore surface white; stem color can be yellowish or
the orange-brown color of the cap.

This example of Polyporus radicatus was properly collected by a
participant at a mushroom foray in Illinois. Note black root.
A large grouping of Polyporus radicatus with some enormous specimens. Found along
a roadway in an urban setting. Probably associated with a nearby dying maple tree.
