Sorbus Aucuparia * Rowan * Mountain Ash * Stunning Berries * 30 Seeds *

THIS LISTING IS FOR 30 SEEDS OF SORBUS AUCUPARIA This well-loved tree produces clusters of white flowers in spring followed by bright, long-lasting, orange-red berries in the autumn that are loved by birds. The leaves go through dramatic colour changes in the autumn, turning yellow, then finally deep crimson before they fall off. The mountain ash is actually not an ash but a member of the rose family. The name "rowan" is derived from the Old Norse name for the tree, raun. Sorbus aucuparia is a small, native tree with wonderful bright berries in autumn. Mid-green, pinnate foliage has a serrated edge and develops good red autumn colours. White flowers are carried on corymbs in April-May and are alluring to bees. These are followed by attractive, orange-red berries that hang in bundle. Birds will devour these berries but they can also be used in jellies. The Common Mountain Ash tree will grow in many difficult situations including polluted and exposed areas. It is most at home in acid soil but will do well in others, such as alkaline soil. It is a rounded tree that will grow to 6 x 4 metres in 20 years and it's abundance of features makes it a good choice for small gardens. Sorbus aucuparia is a very attractive Mountain Ash tree that is a wildlife magnet and is legend to keep witches at bay!
