Baby’s-breath is a plant belonging to a group of more than 100 species of annuals and perennials. It is closely related to carnations. Cushion baby’s-breath is (gypsophila muralis) is classified as annual yet it can be treated as a perennial when allowed to self-seed, or if after a mild winter its semi-woody base remains unrotten until spring.

Gypsy Pink is a lovely pink flowering cushion baby’s-breath with small, double flowers from June until autumn. It grows fast and forms a dense and free flowering cushion which can grow as wide as 50 cm in good soil by the end of the season. Leaves are thin, rich green, and glossy.

Grow baby’s-breath is sharply drained, deep, neutral to alkaline, moderately fertile soil in full sun. It can tolerate only a little bit of partial shade. It looks great among larger light coloured stones and is commonly used in Mediterranean-style landscapes where it will provide a touch of exotic seaside fluffiness and colour.
