Geranium pratense or the Meadow Cranesbill is an evergreen bushy perennial with hairy stems and deeply lobed mid green leaves that turn bronze in autumn.
It has saucer shaped, five petaled violet flowers that are held aloft on slender branching stems in summer.
Cultivars like 'Mrs Kendall Clark' and 'Plenum violaceum' have received the RHS Award of garden Merit.
A good contribution to mixed borders providing good foliage fill and lovely violet blue colouring. Good also in woodland and other informal garden designs.
This plant is best in cooler climates.
