A New Book on Leonardo da Vinci Studies All of His Paintings and Sketches
Leonardo Da Vinci was the original Renaissance man: an artist, inventor, architect, and engineer whose discoveries are still relevant today and whose artwork has become beyond iconic. A new book, Leonardo da Vinci: The Complete Paintings (Taschen, $40) catalogues and studies the master’s paintings from the Mona Lisa to his scientific sketches. Author Frank Zöllner traces Da Vinci’s art and work over ten chapters, from his early career in Florence to his time as a court artist to his final years. A catalogue raisonné also details each of the artist’s known works, including the subject matter, construction, and history. The book brings together famous pieces from the Louvre, National Gallery, and Uffizi, as well as lesser known paintings and drawings, to create a comprehensive study of the artist.
