Pearly everlasting has a lot going for it. The lovely color of the green leaves and stems that are frosted with wooly hairs giving it an unusual appearance. The white flowers top the stems stay fresh looking making them perfect for dried arrangement. Male and female flowers are on separate plants, the female flowers are pure white the males have a yellow center.
 
Pearly everlasting likes full sun and can tolerate dry soils. This is a host plant for the American painted lady butterfly. The caterpillars eat the foliage and crate a webbing they are very interesting. Having host plants for various butterflies and moths provides food for birds and also ensures many butterflies visit your garden.
 
Pearly everlasting cam grow 1 to 2 feet tall. Deer do not like it due to its wooly stems.  Pair this plant with creeping phlox, little blue stem, side oats gramma grass and butterfly weed.
