A Sunday Special: Tough Clouds and Contrail Shadows

| December 19, 2021 @ 9:40 am

A sea of low clouds covers the northwestern half of Alabama this morning behind a cold front that was passing Panama City and Tallahassee.

That provides a canvas for showing shadows on contrails from high flying jets traversing the scene.

Temperatures are in the 40s over the northern half of the area. They will stay there north of I-59. 50s will be common to the south.

As you can see from the radar, the showers are out of Alabama, as expected.

Clouds will hang touch all day, with some temporary clearing across parts of the area this afternoon. But with a low developing in the Gulf of Mexico, they probably will hang tough through Tuesday. The rain will stay to the south.
