A review of geographical distribution of the stag beetles in Mediterranean countries (Coleoptera: Lucanidae)2016 •
A list of recent records of stag beetles (Coleoptera Lucanidae) species occurring in Mediterranean countries is given to improve the current knowledge on their geographic distribution. The saproxylic larvae of the stag beetles are very important for forest ecosystems, and some lucanid species are included in the IUCN Red List and in several national protection lists. However, the knowledge on their distribution is rather heterogeneous for several countries and taxa because the distribution records are scattered in poorly known papers or hidden in Museum or private collections. This paper is an attempt to better understanding the distribution of the stag beetle species across the Mediterranean region, to facilitate research and conservation efforts.

Contributo alla conoscenza della coleotterofauna della “Foresta della Lama” nel Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi2015 •
A list of some interesting beetles in the “Lama Forest” in the Romagna slope of the Casentine Forests, Mt. Falterona and Campigna National Park is provided. Five species are recorded for the first time from the National Park; moreover six species were until now known only in the Tuscany part of the Park. The presence of the alien ladybird Harmonia axiridis (Pallas, 1773) is discussed in detail. Other species are important from the viewpoint of conservation: Rhysodes sulcatus (Fabricius, 1787), Ceruchus chrysomelinus (Hochenwarth, 1785), Platycerus caraboides (Linnaeus, 1758), Gnorimus variabilis (Linnaeus, 1758), Gnorimus nobilis nobilis (Linnaeus, 1758). Treptoplatypus oxyurus (Doufour, 1843) and Mycetina cruciata (Schaller, 1783) are recorded for the first time in Emilia-Romagna Region.

Contributo alla corologia dei Melolonthinae in Italia. (Insecta: Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae).2019 •
Using material from old collections of the Natural History Museum of Florence, new records for three species of Scarabaeidae Melolonthinae from some Italian regions are reported. Melolontha hippocastani Fabricius, 1801 is recorded for the first time in Umbria, Anoxia villosa villosa Fabricius, 1781 in Liguria, and Amphimallon solstitiale solstitiale (Linnaeus, 1758) in Calabria.
Contribution to the knowledge of beetles (Insecta Coleoptera) of some protected areas of Apulia, Basilicata and Calabria (Italy)
Contribution to the knowledge of beetles (Insecta Coleoptera) of some protected areas of Apulia, Basilicata and Calabria (Italy2020 •
The lists of Coleoptera published by the author between 1986 and 1996 concerning the following protected areas from southern Italy are updated: Gargano Promontory, Policoro Wood, Pantano Lake of Pignola, Pollino Massif and Sila Plateau. Data is integrated with subsequent collections of the writer and with bibliographic citations of other authors. With the same criteria the species of further three areas are also listed: Mount Vulture-Monticchio Lakes, Central Lucan Apennines and Aspromonte. A total of 5,130 taxa were recorded for the eight surveyed National or Regional Parks, which are located in Apulia, Basilicata and Calabria regions (Italy). Of these species, 472 are endemic to the Italian territory. The saproxylic species amount to 1,115, their related IUCN category is referred to and an interpretation of the emerging data is suggested. A chronology of the entomological researches carried out in the past has been reconstructed, moreover description of main features and geographical boundaries of the treated sites are provided. All taxa subject of this study are listed in taxo-nomic order with indication of the areas where their presence occurs and specifying the data source. The total number of species for each family is evaluated area by area and the data on the most representative of Coleoptera families are briefly commented, with remarks on the current state of research.

A Red List of Italian Saproxylic Beetles: taxonomic overview, ecological features and conservation issues (Coleoptera)2015 •
The main objectives of this review are: 1) the compilation and updating of a reference database for Italian saproxylic beetles, useful to assess the trend of their populations and communities in the next decades; 2) the identification of the major threats involving the known Italian species of saproxylic beetles; 3) the evaluation of the extinction risk for all known Italian species of saproxylic beetles; 4) the or- ganization of an expert network for studying and continuous updating of all known species of saproxylic beetle species in Italy; 5) the creation of a baseline for future evaluations of the trends in biodiversity conservation in Italy; 6) the assignment of ecological categories to all the Italian saproxylic beetles, useful for the aims of future researches on their communities and on forest environments. The assess- ments of extinction risk are based on the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria and the most updated guidelines. The assessments have been carried out by expe...
