Euonymus europaeus - European Euonymus

Leaves - Opposite, simple, elliptic-ovate to lance-oblong, 1 1/5 to 3 1/5 inches long, acuminate cuneate, crenate-serrate, petiole ¼-½ inches long.

Buds - lmbricate, plump, resembling Norway Maple bud, greenish.

Stem - Slender, greenish, glabrous the first year, usually becoming light gray-brown the second year.

Fruit - Capsule, 4 lobed, pink to red, seed white, aril orange.

Growth Habit - Shrub or tree, relatively narrow when young, broadening with age.
