The European Goldfinch is introduced and well established in southeastern Australia. and in Tasmania. Typically it is found in modified and cleared habitats such as pastureland, roadsides and parks. In such places it is attracted to seeds of introduced weeds such as thistles. Here we see a few picking though the cropped grass near an historic colonial era homestead to the south east of Canberra on a chilly winter afternoon
