2016 (SENIOR): named to the NSIC Second Team for doubles play with Emily Erickson… also named NSIC Second Team for singles play… It is the first time in USF's DII era that two team members have been named to first or second team on the All-NSIC squad… recorded a 7-9 overall singles record playing No. 2 singles… recorded a 5-5 record in NSIC singles… totaled a 9-10 overall doubles record in the No. 2 slot… totaled a 8-3 NSIC record… earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors and helped the Cougars to an ITA All-Academic Team award… named to the NSIC All-Academic Team…helped the Cougars to their most successful season in Division II history advancing to their fourth consecutive NSIC Tournament, the Cougars broke through with a 5-2 win over St. Cloud State for their first postseason victory as a member of NCAA Division II

2015 (JUNIOR): named to the NSIC Honorable Mention Team for singles… Recorded a 4-9 record while playing No. 1 singles… recorded a 3-8 NSIC singles record… recorded a 7-8 overall record in No. 1 doubles with Emily Erickson… recorded a 6-5 record in NSIC doubles… named to the NSIC All-Academic team

2014 (SOPHOMORE): Sat out the season

2013 (FRESHMAN): Featured as the Cougars' No. 1 singles player throughout the entirety of her first season…finished the season
with a singles record of 6-11…won her first collegiate match on February 9 against Bemidji State’s Caley Westin (6-1, 6-1)…finished the season strong, winning four of her last six matches…also played No. 1 doubles and finished with a record of 6-11…partnered with Stacey Beard to knock off Bemidji State (8-2) for the first doubles match victory of her collegiate career…teamed with Molly Seigenthaler later in the spring and the tandem won five of their last six doubles matches, including three straight victories to close out the season. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Held down the Knights’ #1 singles position for five years (8th-12th) and posted a 22-1 record as a senior…placed third as a senior at the regional tournament…a four-time all-Saint Paul City Conference selection…also received a quartet of honorable mention all-state honors…named team MVP as both a junior and senior…received the most improved player award her sophomore season.

PERSONAL: Born in St. Paul, Minn., parents are Del and Linda Kauss…has three brothers, Caleb (22), John (26) and Kyle (28), two of whom also played college tennis…secondary education major and English minor…served as a middle school tutor for three years…goal is to become a middle school teacher.

Why Alison Chose USF: “I chose USF because I always wanted to go somewhere that was smaller and more connected. The people I met here before I decided to come made me feel at home and I also get the opportunity to play tennis here.”
