The Hudsonian Whiteface is a small black dragonfly with a white face and a black spot at the base of each hindwing. Males are marked with red, and females may be marked with red or yellow on the thorax and top of abdomen. This species is uncommon in Nebraska.

Size: 27-32 mm (1.1-1.3 in)

Habitat: marshes, bogs and fens

Great Plains Range: NE, CO, WY, MT, MN

Flight season: May to September
