Morley’s Final Catalogue: Common at Aldeburgh on 15 July 1892, pupal-cases at Thorp, and imago taken at Southwold (Ctw, EMM. xxvii, 50); cases often observed in Bentley Woods (Mly); one bred at Ampton in 1911 (Nurse).

Recent Status: Common in the Sandlings.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying during May and June. The larvae feed from a long silken case of triangular cross section, on insect remains, algae, lichen and leaf litter. They pupate in the case.

Identification: Only the males can fly, the females being completely wingless. The males are easily identified from the reticulate wings and orange heads
