Thorn-tipped Longhorn Beetle / Doppeldorniger Wimperbock

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

During my walk last Wednesday, I did not just take pictures of the little green monster, but I took advantage of my macro lens and photographed some flowers and of course insects.

Among other things, I also noticed this longhorn beetle, which had taken a break in a shrubbery on a leaf.

In my opinion, the beetle is a Pogonocherus hispidulus (greater thorn-tipped longhorn beetle), but it could also be a Pogonocherus hispidus (lesser thorn-tipped longhorn beetle), but I think it is the former.
If anyone knows, I ask for info.

Because everything was pretty much overgrown, unfortunately, I could not reach a better perspective.

Of the longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) there are about 27,000 species worldwide, and they usually have an elongated physique with long antennae.

There are also harmful species in which the larvae develop in wood and feed on the wood.

That was the last time I saw the meadow where I photographed all the insects, because a few days later my beautiful wildflower meadow had been mowed and turned into hay.

Thank you very much for resteeming my post, dear @pixresteemer 😊

They mowed your meadow. I suppose the cows must eat something. A cool looking beetle. You got some nice detail:)

Yes, this is, why I don't mind them mowing "my" meadow, because the cows need food :)
Thank you very much, Pryde, I am always glad, when I get sharp macro photos, when I don't use a tripod, which I don't like to take with me, when I'm in nature shooting macros :)

Nice macros! And a very interesting bug!

Thank you so much, @melinda010100, I have never seen this kind of longhorn beetle before, and the word "interesting" matches great :)

Nice catch.

Thank you very much @carnot 😊

Howdy sir johannpiber! that sucker's ugly but the shots are really good! lol. I like the house on the hill there above the hay field, what views they must have!

Thank you @janton, this bug looks dangerous, but it is so small, that you could hardly see it, if it sat on another surface.
Right, from up there you have a beautiful overview over the whole valley, called "Rosental" (rose valley).

I could settle for a home on a hill like that, or is that a mountain? Anyway, as long as the view is many miles of mountains and forests I would be thrilled.
That lens is working great for you sir johann!

They are hills with forests and farm fields, @janton, and depending on the height of the hill you might see many miles, that's true.
This macro lens from SIGMA was not very expensive, but I think, it is worth every single cent. It's a really good macro lens.

Howdy again sir johannpiber! what is not very expensive to you, a few hundred?

Compared to a Canon lens it was cheap - 400 Euros :)

That's very reasonable sir johann, good job!

I have had the same macro lens years ago with my Olympus DSLR. Because it was a very good lens I decided to buy it again :)

How funny when i was looking at him i was thinking he looks like he would be found on bark! Turns out he's a trouble maker.

Right, he would fit well on different tree barks and be invisible there. I think, the bark beetle is worse than this fellow ;)

There's a gray longhorn beetle here that squeeks at you if you catch it. https://bugguide.net/node/view/1318293

Thank you 😀 I know these beetles - we have had fun with them, when we were kids 😁

They hatch in large numbers here and cover entire trees.

That's funny - our scorpion flies are not seldom, but I have never seen crowds of them ;)

What a fantastic series of shots, is that 105 a new lens?
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Thank you so much JJ 😊
I have bought this lens about 2 months ago, because I had remembered, that I had the same lens from SIGMA years before, when I had my Olympus DSLR. The main reason was also the price of 400 Euros ... and the lens is really good in my opinion :)

That’s a great price and your shots show it’s a good lense

Yes, this price is great, and because I was satisfied with the old one on the Olympus, I thought this one would be good too ... and I was right, the lens is good 😊

Have fun with it,still debating which lens to get next but i have time to think about it I just blew some of my camera fund on a new 4K monitor

Thank you, I will have some fun with it - I think I am going for a walk with this lens, because my son says it's too hot to drive. I will sweat, but I don't want to stay at home ;)
I have bought a rather cheap BenQ 4k monitor last Autumn, but the difference to my 5 year old noname monitor, which I had before, is phenomenal.

Ohh yeah the difference from mY old Second Monnitor is amazing now I want to upgrade my other monitor which tillI got the new one i thought was great LOL
I also upgraded my Playstation to the Pro so I get the full 4K effect to awesome the difference

Enjoy your walk, wont be walking much myself today as its rainy here

It's very hot here, but in the evening there might be some thunderstorms around. That's good, because it cooles the air down :)

Nice macro shots of insect photography.

Thank you very much, @kamrunnahar 😊

Oh! The meadow disappeared and eaten by the machine!
The colours of the insect look very interesting and formal!

Thank you so much, @kaminchan 😊
The machine mowed it, but the meadow, which is hay now, will be eaten my the farmers animals, which is OK ... and the grass and the flowers will groß again soon :)))
