French Pink Pussy Willow is a large growing deciduous shrub or small tree that is sure to be a conversation piece in your landscape, and in your home. You can't grow it indoors, but budded branches can be cut in spring to create a magnificent floral display in your favorite vase. In early spring upward-facing, fuzzy, cat paw-like 1-inch silvery-pink catkins appear up and down the bare branches. The open white catkins (flowers) are one of the first pollen and nectar sources for pollinating insects. As the flowers fade, dark green broad elliptic to oblong leaves (to 3- inches long) will emerge and remain until the first heavy frost in fall.
