Portulaca oleracea

Wildflowers Dicots Caryophyllales Portulacaceae Portulaca

Portulaca oleracea flowerCommon Purslane

Seen blooming on Mountain Dr. in April.

This small, spreading vine is edible.

It is probably of European origin, though there is some evidence of its presence in North America before the arrival of Columbus (But I’m unaware of any evidence of its presence in California before then).
