Physarum cinereum is confused at naked eye with some groups of pathogenic fungi due to inhabit leaves of plants of agricultural interest, but it is not a pathogen organism (Agra et al., 2018).


Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?

Although to be a well distributed species, in Brazil this species need attention because many records are from endangered biomes. Thus, I suggest this species to be categorized in Least Concern

Habitat and Ecology

In Brazil Physarum cinereum is found in Amazon and Atlantic Forest, rain and riparian forest, disturbed and preserved areas. The specie is usually found in living shrubs, lawns, weeds, grasses, cultivated turfgrasses or bryophytes, living and dead leaves, rabbit dung and inflorescences.

Threats
