Marsh cinquefoil, Comarum palustre, bogwort, cinquefoil, cloves, water decop, dikont, silverweed, marsh strawberry, goldenwort, marsh cinquefoil.

Perennial herbaceous plant 20-100 cm high.

The leaves are compound, odd-pinnate, with 3-7 leaflets, while the main petiole is shortened, due to which they appear palmate. The leaves are oblong, sharply serrated, green above, velvety below, with whitish pubescence.

In June and July, rather large purple flowers bloom, collected in corymbose inflorescences. The petal-shaped sepals are also blood red.

In August-September, the flowers ripen into achenes, which grow into the overgrown receptacle and are “wrapped” in it. Such fruits are a delicacy for birds.

Late spring and early summer honey plant, provides nectar and pollen to bees.

Prefers semi-stagnant soils, peat bogs and shallow areas with standing water.
