Welcome to the July installment of Mushrooms of the Month. Summer is truly here in all it’s glory and if you have not started to get out any this year, you might want to highly consider it. Next to the abudance of species that the fall season has to offer, this is one of the best summer months to find a wide range of vibrant species throughout the forests, grasslands, and wetlands of Ohio. Several stunning varieties of Boletes and Agarics alone come up in late June and most of July that makes it worth getting out. Now is the time to dust off that old reliable manual or digital camera you have and put it to some good use. We are curious to see what you may find!

I am new to mushroom hunting except for hen of the woods. I know what they are and I eat them. Are the pictures of the mushrooms that I am seeing on this site eatable?
