Identification:

  • Thin, often fragile shell (height 1-2cm)
  • Shell with large inflated body whorl and short, strongly twisted spire (succineiform shape)
  • Shell generally with little sculpture (smooth or faint growth lines).
  • Aperture with thin outer lip
  • Umbilicus usually closed over
  • Often associated with moist environments.

Morphological Distribution: Genus occurs across most of Australia. In Western Australia it is found from the Kimberley to south-western Australia, including the Pilbara region.

Molecular (COI) Distribution: Insufficent molecular data at present.

SRE Status: We currently regard this as a potential SRE group.
