Scleranthus — Bach Flower Essence for Indecision, Wavering, Imbalance (emotional, mental, hormonal)

In general, Scleranthus person acts like he/she must have the perfect solution, without any doubts, so that he/she can make the final decision. That means, in order to choose solution A, it has to be better than solution B in every way and from every perspective. So often in life, the smallest things are not black or white but somewhere in between. Therefore, this is where a Scleranthus person gets into trouble! There are no perfect solutions, oftentimes we can only choose what is better, what is less harmful solution in any given context or moment in time.

Every time a person is faced with alternatives, two, three or more, but guided by the premise that the solution has to be a perfect one — a problem arises. The problem encases trivial as well as significant, strategic situations and choices in life. It goes from choosing a red or brown hairpin, whether to buy these or those types of noodles for dinner, to which college to apply to — whether this one or that one. Scleranthus people exhaust themselves when making a decision and just cannot make the final decision! The moment they make up their minds and opt for one choice, the other choice starts to look like a better option — indecision and endless second-guessing.

Scleranthus is afraid of making the wrong decision, of choosing the wrong thing. This fear drives them to search for the perfect solution, one they will not regret.

When they see that things are futile, they can also become desperate. This creates a great deal of confusion in their minds because a thought process cannot define a decision and therefore a decision cannot even be made when the situation is urgent and a real threat to the person!

One of the many practical problems that arise is a lack of concentration. Vertigo, dizziness, motion sickness, mood swings. Procrastination, as a secondary result of indecision — what to do first, where to begin, is one typical behavior of students or when people do housework.

What does this remedy do?

Generally, it breaks the useless cycle of back and forth ”should it be A or B or C?” It makes the person reasonable and practical, able to make a better decision even if it is not perfect. It helps them make a decision in a favorable way in order to move on. It reestablishes a balance, a middle ground, a balance on all levels, mental, emotional and physical.
