Species Information

General:
Perennial herb from a slender rhizome; stems decumbent to erect, many, branched, often matted, very slender, 3-30 cm tall/long.
Leaves:
Leaves opposite, unstalked, lanceolate to lance-linear, 5-20 mm long, 0.5-5.0 mm wide, thin; stipules lacking.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of solitary flowers in the leaf axils, occasionally several flowers in an open cluster; petals 5, white, deeply 2-cleft, 2.5-5 mm long; sepals 5, oblong-lanceolate, 2-3 mm long at flowering time, inconspicuously 1-nerved, glabrous or nearly so.
Fruits:
Capsules straw-coloured, narrowly egg-shaped, 4-5 mm long, 6-valved; seeds about 0.7-1 mm long, reddish-brown, minutely roughened.
