Abstract

A complex of pod borers, namely, blue butterflies Lampides boeticus and Euchrysops cnejus, spotted pod borer Maruca vitrata, field bean pod borer Adisura atkinsoni, Gram pod borer Helicoverpa armigera, plume moth Exelastis atomosa and spiny pod borer Etiella zinckenella, is known to attack different leguminous vegetables. The other important pests of leguminous vegetables include bean fly Ophiomyia phaseoli and O. centrocematis, pod fly Melanagromyza obtusa, serpentine leaf miner Liriomyza trifolii, pea leaf miner Chromatomyia horticola, leaf hopper Empoasca kerri, Aphis craccivora and Acrythosiphon pisum, whitefly Bemisia tabaci, cutworms Agrotis segetum and Agrotis ipsilon, pea weevil Bruchus pisorum and the blister beetle Mylabris phalerata.
