Abstract

The bryophytic flora of the Rhérhaya valley, located north of the Toubkal National Park (TNP)—Morocco, has been catalogued. To our knowledge, only one systematic study of bryophytes has been carried out so far in this valley (Ros et al., J. Bryol. 22:283–289, 2000). The catalogue resulting from our study contains 67 taxa, including 64 mosses and 3 liverworts. Six (06) species new to Africa, Anomobryum lusitanicum (I. Hagen ex Luisier) Ther. Bryum bornholmense Wink. and R. Ruthe, (=Ptychostomum bornholmense (Wink. and R. Ruthe) Holyoak and N. Pedersen, Cephalozia pleniceps (Austin) Lindb., Grimmia crinitoleucophaea Cardot (= Grimmia poecilostoma Cardot and Sebille), Homalothecium meridionale (M. Fleisch and Warnst) Hedenas, Plagiomnium ellipticum (Brid.) T. J. Kop., one (01) new species for North Africa Hypnum revolutum (Mitt.) Lindb. var. dolomiticum (Milde) Moenk., two (2) species new to Morocco, Bryum subapiculatum (Hampe) and Syntrichia sinensis (Mull. Hal.) Ochyra, and twenty seven (27) species new to Toubkal National Park, have been listed and referenced for the first time in comparison with existing checklists.
