Botany and Ecology

A big tree, to 20 m high, with a straight upright trunk to 1.5–2 m and even up to 4–7 m in diameter, dark grey fissured bark, and a large spreading crown. Leaves compound, alternate, usually with 3–5 pairs of leaflets, these elongate-ovate, slightly crenate, apex acuminate, glabrous above, hairy below in the axils of veins.
