Times have been good for ZeptoLab’s Cut the Rope mobile games, which have been downloaded more than 300 million times since October 2010. ZeptoLab is now launching its third installment in the franchise, Cut the Rope: Time Travel, which will be supplemented with new tie-in animated shorts.

The mobile game, available for iOS, Android, Amazon and Nook devices, has Om Nom the green monster stumble upon a time travel machine and go back in time to discover his candy-eating roots. Players can cut the ropes and collect stars and unlock levels with  new game play elements. Time periods include the Middle Ages, Renaissance,  Ancient Egypt and the Stone Age.

The app will feature a new 10-episode season of the Om Nom Stories animated series, which will be integrated into the game similar to the video-streaming model now used by Angry Birds for its toon series. Om Nom Stories launched last fall, and a third season is already in the works for a debut later next year.

The sequel to the original Cut the Rope game, Cut the Rope: Experiments, was released in August 2011. This past December, ZeptoLab released Pudding Monsters, its first new IP since Cut the Rope and Cut the Rope: Experiments.
