Anthony Anderson

Summary

California native Anthony Anderson is best known for his comedic roles on TV and in film. His first notable role was int the NBC sitcom Hang Time.

Moving on to film, Anderson had a breakout role in Romeo Must Die (2000). Since then, he has starred in a number of films, including Exit Wounds (2001), Barbershop (2002), and Kangaroo Jack (2003).

In 2003, Anderson returned to TV with his own sitcom on The WB, All About the Andersons. The show lasted one season, and co-starred John Amos. Anderson began a role on The Shield as Antwon Mitchell, in 2005. His role on The Shield won him critical acclaim, and earned him respect as an actor with dramatic ability, as well.

Anderson continued with film-work; he voiced a character in the animated film Hoodwinked (2005), and had a supporting role in Martin Scorsese's Academy Award-winning film The Departed (2006). He starred in the summer blockbuster, Transformers (2007).

2007 brought Anderson back to TV, in the short-lived FOX police drama, K-Ville, set in New Orleans. He's set to take on a role at Law & Order in 2008, as a series regular.

Anderson married his college girlfriend, Alvina Stewart in 1995; the couple have two children.
