Description
BASSWOOD
Tilia americana grows in a wide range of soils in full to part sun. Fragrant flowers dangling from leafy bracts bloom in June and then nutlets form and ripen by fall to feed birds. Pollinators flock to the flowers. Beekeepers prize the honey produced by bees feeding on this nectar. Basswood supports 160 species of butterflies and moths in our area.
