Description

Marginal Wood Fern prefers average to moist, well drained, rich soil in full to part shade. This evergreen beauty occurs in arching vase shaped, non spreading, clumps. The fronds are leathery and deeply cut, providing winter interest and shelter for wildlife. Wood Fern is larval host to 3 moths in our area, Graceful Ghost Moth, Ghostly Fern Moth, and Marsh Fern Moth. Songbirds use ferns in nest construction.
