This has the largest leaves of the European Linden species and not as large as the American Linden. The leaves are about 2 to 5 inches long and wide, usually with hairiness especially below. Buds and twigs are reddish green-brown and twigs and stems are usually hairy. It tends to bloom earlier than the other Lindens. It has been commonly planted in Europe. I have never seen it here in the USA. Some arboretums are growing it, as the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
